Put my leg where? (My yoga experience at its finest)

So. This Yoga thing... IS HARD! In my mind, I'm just as flexible as I was when I was 17. In reality, it's pretty embarrassing. The flexibility isn't even the toughest part. That, my dear friends, goes to the breathing. Breathing! Something we've all been doing 24/7, forever. But Oh No! Put me in a 100 degree room, have me contorted like a giant pretzel you get at the mall and then ask me to breathe? Aint happening.
"Now breathe in deep for five..." says the instructor in her floaty, holistic voice.
Mmm how about three... and a half... Good lord! I guess I just haven't reached that "om stage" where I feel relaxed and centered. Right now I feel awkward and uptight, not to mention judge by 
little Miss Let Me Just Put my Leg Up Here Perfectly & Hold it for an Hour. 
Has any one seen Eat, Pray, Love? You know the part where she tries to meditate the first time, one minute goes by and she hits her head on the mat? 
{Raises hand high} That's me.
I've still got a few sessions to go before I make up my mind fully. Any one else have awkward newbie stories they'd like to share?

  1. Bikram yoga is SO TOUGH! I about fainted both times I've tried it. You are not alone :)

    I've been doing Vinyasa yoga at my gym and like it a ton. I'm able to practice my breathing more because I'm not so worried about the heat and my racing heart rate.
